The end of this season saw the the last of the R6 cup. Yamaha have desided to give them all the same spec R1 insted.
This year Yamaha launchThe Yamaha R1 Cup series, a brand new championship concept giving every rider an equal chance of success,pitting experienced racers against ‘Rookies’ in the most exciting one make challenge ever seen. 2 championships 1 overall champion and many other series first opportunities and challenges for each and every entrant. Series Plan36 identical Yamaha YZF R1 Superbikes maintained to the highest standard with total unified specification by Rob McElnea racing company. This will ensure extreme excitement in each race from beginning to end and will also demonstrate that raw talent will surely breakthrough. Bike Preparation All bikes will be prepared byRob McElnea Racing Company. 36 identical YZF R1 Superbikes with racing exhausts systems and Power Commanders.With the power increase the suspension will be upgraded to Ohilns rear shocks and race fitted front forks. Braided brake hoses and adjustable rear sets complete the race going package. Racing slick tyres The decision to run racing slick tyres will raise the bar as far as the pace and credibility of this unique Yamaha challenge. Each rider will have a tyre allocation for the race weekend including racing slicks and racing wet tyres.
